Abstract
There is slight but recognizable response of rats on a factor I-deficient diet to as little as 1 microgram of crystalline factor I. Ten micrograms of factor I nearly satisfied the rat's requirements for this vitamin. Rats receiving factor I but limited in their food intake to that of rats on the factor I-deficient diet appeared to utilize food more efficiently. This was evidenced by a greater body weight and the presence of fat in their tissues. In the rats on the factor-I deficient diet, the thymus atrophies more quickly than in those receiving the same amount of food with factor I.Keywords
