Abstract
Specimens of Hoegisphaera, recovered from the Rockport Quarry Member of the Hamilton Formation (middle Devonian) of southwestern Ontario, demonstrate a mode of aggregation previously undescribed for Chitinozoa. It differs from the previously reported chain or cluster habits in being a mat-like aggregate of discrete vesicles held together by a delicate membrane. This new observation has taxonomic and phylogenetic significance.
