Abstract
A stainless steel hinged cylinder encapsulates and restrains a hamster for intra-oral manipulations. The capsule assembly with the animal was placed into a base capsule locking device. Jaw retraction was maintained with wire loops attached to mounted elastic bands. Oral access to the immobilized animal was accomplished without the operator holding the animal. The apparatus permits simple, safe and efficient mass handling of unanesthetized animals. Illustrations of the device are included. Keywords
