Abstract
The author studied photometrically the fluorescence of both normal and cataractous lenses and their extracts after alkaline photolysis. The hypothesis of Fischer stating that cataract is caused by photolysis of the flavine substances occurring in the lenses, could not be ascertained. Author''s investigations suggest that fluorescence is produced by a substance termed "halloxazin.".Keywords
