Abstract
The proteins of the liver and serum of protein-depleted rats showed a greater incorporation of S35 from methionine than the corresponding proteins of normal control animals. This finding can be explained by the reduced metabolic pool of amino acids in the depleted rats. The data suggested that the protein-depleted animals had a decreased rate of synthesis of liver nuclear and serum albumin proteins. The results also indicated a rapid synthesis of nuclear proteins in the tumors of tumor-bearing animals. Keywords
