Abstract
Details are given of a practical technique that has been developed for the balancing of large flexible rotors. The special conditions that arise when such a rotor is borne in bearings from which vibration readings are taken are described. A modal balancing technique may be used for all modes through whose critical speeds the shaft runs, and then an averaging technique can account for the remaining modes. Keywords
