Abstract
The torque on a spinning spherical conducting shell of arbitrary thickness in a uniform magnetic field is calculated in terms of the magnetic vector potential. The torque is found to result from the interaction of eddy currents induced in the shell with the excitation field and is such as to oppose and precess the spinning of the shell. Keywords
