Abstract
The apparatus, designed to ensure a constant mean blood pressure in studies of hemorrhagic hypotension, includes a monitoring Hg manometer containing 2 electrodes fixed at positions slightly above and below a chosen pressure level. The circuit made by contact of the Hg with the upper electrode activates a solenoid which allows the animal to bleed into a reservoir; contact with the lower electrode activates a 2d solenoid which allows the animal to receive blood from a 2d reservoir. The monitoring manometer is connected to an artery different from that connected to the reservoir system. The apparatus regulates mean blood pressure within [plus or minus] 1 mm. of the chosen level under favorable conditions, and within about [plus or minus] 4 mm. when Traube-Hering waves are present. Keywords
