Abstract
The electronic energy spectrum of a model onedimensional random alloy is calculated numerically by selfconsistently solving a functional equation due to Agacy and Borland. The densities of states near a band edge and near one of Wada's 'special energies' were both found to exhibit essential singularities of the type predicted by Lifshitz for the band edge behaviour. Keywords
