Abstract
To further clarify the relationship between feeds of high nitrate content and the vitamin A status of animals, β-carotene treated with N2O4 was fed under various dietary conditions to albino rats to determine whether this material retained any vitamin A activity or was toxic. Weight gains and liver vitamin A storage indicate that the material was neither toxic nor had any vitamin A activity. Keywords
