Hypermetropic and Myopic Keratokyphosis???A New Method of Refractive Keratoplasty. I. Effect of a Synthetic Lens on Intraocular Pressure

Abstract
Keratokyphosis is a procedure of refractive corneal surgery in which the radius of curvature of the corneal surface is changed by gluing a convex synthetic lens onto the corneal surface in aphakia and a concave synthetic lens in myopia. Subsequently a corneal lamella is removed parallel to the outer surface of the glued-on lens. By means of a measuring device, the effect of the glued-on lens on the intraocular pressure during the applanation of the corneal surface was examined in the donor eye. The result was that the intraocular pressure remains unchanged when a synthetic lens is used and that the suction ring system developed by Barraquer can be used in keratokyphosis.
