Abstract
Evidence is presented that the western North American plant, Iva axillaris Pursh, consists of two populations which are recognized by the authors as subspecies. Subspecies axillaris, 2n = 36 and 54, is found only east of the Continental Divide and ssp. robustior comb, nov., 2n = 36 and 54, found mainly west of the Divide. A key is presented to show the differences between the two subspecies. Pollen morphology and seed production are discussed. Keywords
