Abstract
A study of the planktonic foraminifers in a core drilled on the continental slope due west of Tampa, Florida [USA], revealed the position of the Santonian-Campanian Stage boundary. Three important foraminiferal datums are present in the core: the 1st appearance of Globotruncana elevata and the last appearances of G. concavata and Sigalia deflaensis. The co-occurrence of G. elevata and S. deflaensis defines an important short interval in the basal Campanian, which is recorded for the 1st time from North America. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
