Abstract
Isoniazid-resistant strains were deficient in catalase. This deficiency was specific to isoniazid resistance and was associated with increased susceptib to the lethal effect of H2O2. It is suggested that isoniazid inter-feres with catalase or peroxidase synthesis in mycobacteria. These workers suggest that methods of sputum concentration involving the use of H2O2 should be used with caution, as they may exert a selective killing action on mixed population of mycobacteria containing both isoniazid-susceptible and isoniazid-resistant organisms. Keywords
