Delay in Sexual Maturation of Rats Caused by Synthetic LH-Releasing Hormone: Enhancement of SteroidΔ 4-5α-Hydrogenase in Testes1

Abstract
Immature 28 day old male rats were injected daily with 0.5 µg of synthetic LRH for either one or two weeks. Control animals were injected with the saline diluent. The treatment with LRH for two weeks significantly decreased the weights of accessory sexual organs. Treatment did not alter testicular weights or cause recognizable morphologic changes of the testes.
