Abstract
An approximation is constructed to the phase‐space, or Wigner, distribution function for a three‐dimensional, dense Fermi gas in a spherically symmetric potential well. Near the surface separating the classically forbidden region from the classically allowed region, quantum oscillations occur. The oscillations are expressed in terms of a universal function.Keywords
