Zeolite-entrapped osmium carbonyl clusters: selective and stable catalysts for CO hydrogenation

Abstract
[H2Os(CO)4] is converted in the pores of a basic form of zeolite Y (formed by treatment with NaN3)to give entrapped Os carbonyl clusters that catalyse CO hydrogenation at 573 K and 19 bar (1 bar = 105 Pa) to give C2—C4 hydrocarbons in high yield with only slow loss of catalytic activity and selectivity.
