Abstract
I.r. spectra and assignments are reported for (NH4)3ZrF7, (NH4)2ZrF6, NH4ZrF5, NH4ZrF5,H2O, K2ZrF6, K2HfF6, Cs2ZrF6, for the 4000–200 cm.–1 region. The zirconium–fluorine vibrations are exhibited as broad-band systems because of the low-site symmetries of the polyhedral anions. For the ammonium salts the spectra indicate the presence of week hydrogen-bonding. The spectrum of the hydrate is consistent with the presence on non-co-ordinated water, hydrogen-bonded in the crystal lattice. Keywords
