Guanine-Plus-Cytosine Contents of Type Strains of the Genus Providencia

Abstract

The guanine-plus-cytosine contents of the type strains of Providencia alcalifaciens, P. friedericiana, P. stuartii, P. rettgeri, P. rustigianii, and P. heimbachae were determined by thermal denaturation and were found to be between 39 and 43 mol%. These results agreed with the values previously reported for members of the genus Providencia.
