Effects of surgical operation and bed rest on cardiovascular responses to exercise in hospital patients

Abstract
Male hospital patients were examined for changes in the responses to exercise after operation and bed rest of different durations. One of the changes observed was an enhanced increase in heart rate during exercise; this could be reversed by ambulation or physiotherapy.
