Abstract
The dipole−dipole autocorrelation functions for systems of particles interacting with a Lennard−Jones potential are calculated in order to determine the variation of the dielectric properties with density and temperature. Comparison with static dielectric data shows that the observed deviation from the Clausius−Mossotti relation is primarily due to the dependence of the atomic polarizability on density. A new contribution to the dielectric dispersion is found to be of the order of 10−4 of the polarizability, at liquid densities and at visible frequencies, and should be observable. Keywords
