Abstract
The electron density of states has been calculated by means of the recursion method and the continued-fraction technique for the case of a Cu overlayer on a Ni surface for different values of the coverage fraction. The calculations have been performed in the tight-binding scheme taking into account only the d bands. The results are discussed in the light of recent results from ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy. Keywords
