Contributions of a non-central force to the elastic constants of the inert gas solids

Abstract
The elastic constants C11, C12 and C44 of the inert gas solids are calculated including the contributions from a non-central force. It is shown that the quantity (C44-C12) C12-1 provides a critical test for the importance of non-central forces.Keywords
