CHRONIC BRONCHITIS AND MUCOVISCIDOSIS

Abstract
Although chronic bronchitis has been the subject of numerous publications over the past few years, the etiology of this syndrome is still very indefinite. Observations have been presented that indicate that mucoviscidosis must be recognized as an important factor in the pathogenesis of some forms of chronic bronchitis. This finding supports the argument in favor of the genetic origin of certain forms of chronic bronchitis. The sweat test should therefore be applied to subjects suffering from this complaint to determine whether or not mucoviscidosis is present, and the result should be included in the summary of etiopathogenic factors.
