Abstract
The learned authors of the other chapters of this book have explained, even more clearly and completely than I expected when I accepted the commission to write a critical summary chapter, the present status of the field of superconductivity. In many cases the chapter authors have also done my work of summarizing and integrating the material as well as of presenting the basic information, and perhaps one of the most valuable services I can do the reader is to call attention to a number of places where this is to be found. (Of course, almost all the chapters contain some good material of this kind, and I mention specific sections here only to save myself labor by pointing out the most complete examples.)Keywords
