Abstract

Gross, correlated structures have been observed in the excitation functions of the reaction 12C(16O, α)24Mg, leading to a number of states, up to 22 MeV excitation in 24Mg. The possible occurrence of intermediate states in 28Si, having high spin or a particular structure, quasi molecular, or of several-α-cluster type, is discussed
