Abstract
A high-resolution ultrasonic imaging system has been designed and realized for skin examination. A focused 50-MHz PVDF transducer is scanned mechanically in two dimensions parallel to the area of the skin surface. Consequently, the imaging system permits three-dimensional data acquisition. The results are presented in various cross-sectional views (B-scans, C-scans). First clinical experiences point out that high-frequency ultrasonic imaging of skin represents a useful supplement and expansion to the classical macromorphologic diagnostics.<>Keywords
