Abstract
The positron lifetimes in annealed metals reported recently by MacKenzie, Jackman, and Thrane range from 0.1 to 0.4 nsec and exhibit systematic trends with the atomic number. These observations are shown to be related predominantly to the dynamic screening of the positron charge by the metal electron gas. Keywords
