Abstract
Male trout were injected with a known amount of labelled or unlabelled NaCl and the rate of output and uptake of Na was measured. Some trout received intraperitoneal injections of either deoxycorticosterone acetate (2 mg), hydrocortisone (10 mg), or vasopressin (1 unit). The administration of corticosteroids significantly increased the total output of Na, their action reducing the renal excretion of Na but enhancing the extra-renal excretion of Na. Vasopressin decreased the total Na output without effecting the extra-renal output.
