Abstract
Summary: The fauna of a Lower Carboniferous (S1) fissure near Clitheroe, Lancashire, is listed. Coignouina acanthina sp. nov. (Otarionidae) is described, together with its unusual ‘eye-mound’ which bears tubercles rather than lenses. Note is made of new material of C. acanthina (Coignou) which necessitates modification of Osmólska's (1967) reconstruction of the cephalon. Carbonocoryphe hahnorum sp. nov. (Proetidae) is also described and a brief account presented of its variation, postlarval ontogeny and palaeo-ecology.Keywords
