Abstract
Eleven days of energy balance data from three unsaturated land surfaces were collected in the White Mountains of Arizona. These data indicate the variability in α for unsaturated conditions, and seem to verify that a constant value of 1.26 exists for saturated (LE/R → 1) conditions. The “index of aridity” (α/1.26), though not entirely logical for small-scale use, also seems to substantiate the large-scale parameter. Keywords
