Abstract
Multiple quantum dynamics of spin I=7/2 are presented considering modulation of quadrupolar interaction as the relaxation mechanism. The equation of motion of the spin system is calculated in Liouville space using irreducible spherical tensor operators as the orthonormal basis. Relaxation matrices are given explicitly for coherences one to seven. Experiments for measuring the creation of multiple rank tensors and multiple quantum relaxation for spin 7/2 are described and analyzed. Results of double quantum and triple quantum filtered spectra of Cs+ bound to the crown ether 18‐crown‐6, dissolved in glycerol, were analyzed in terms of the microscopic parameters of the system, the reorientation correlation time and the quadrupolar coupling constant. Numerical calculations indicated that the expected MQF signal intensities decrease in the order TQF≳DQF≫5QF≳4QF≫7QF≳6QF.Keywords
