ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHIC PATTERNS OF COMBINED VENTRICULAR STRAIN

Abstract
47 cases showing the features of combined right and left ventricular strain in the electrocardiogram were analyzed. Six electro-cardiographic patterns of combined ventricular strain are described. The statement is made that absence of ventricular preponderance in the Ecg in the presence of clinical and radiological evidence of cardiac enlargement is presumptive evidence of combined ventricular strain. Other factors such as displacement of the heart, congenital anomaly of the conduction system, or focal intraventricular block may be responsible for a pattern similar to that of combined ventricular strain.
