Abstract

On the basis of the data obtained, a simple clinical test for the evaluation of pituitary-adrenocortical integrity is presented, based on the 4-hr, fall in circulating eosinophils following the subcut. injn. of 0.3 mg. of epinephrine or the intraven. admn. of 0.2 mg. in 200 cc. of saline over a 1-hr. period. A fall exceeding 50% excludes both adrenocortical and pituitary ACTH deficiency.
