Abstract
We present an experimental study of the low-momentum-transfer component of 6424 events at 6.6 GeV/c. The elastic cross sections in the region are measured by means of several different pole-extrapolation procedures. We find that the conventional Chew-Low extrapolation procedure yields results not in satisfactory agreement with the known on-shell cross sections. We suggest a modified extrapolation procedure which in our case yields results in good agreement with the on-shell values.
