Abstract
This article presents an overview of research in an area loosely calledbelief revision.Belief revision concentrates on the issue of revising systems of beliefs to reflect perceived changes in the environment or acquisition of new information. In addition, belief revision research includes the study of methods for representing models of environments as collections of beliefs and the development of formal theories of belief. The bulk of the article consists of a descriptor-indexed bibliography of research addressing these topics. Our intention is that this bibliography serve both to introduce the interested researcher to this literature, and to capture the current state of the field. Towards this purpose, we begin with an overview of belief revision research. Keywords
