Abstract
Zygogramma exclamationis (F.) females and males lived a mean 91 and 92 days, respectively, in the laboratory. Females laid an avg 14.8 eggs/day and 1020 eggs following a preoviposition period of 15 days. About 71% of the eggs hatched. Mean times for development were 5.4 days for eggs, 15.1 days for larvae, 4.8 days for prepupae, and 6.7 days for pupae. Thus, mean total development and generation times were 32.6 and 47.7 days, respectively. Peak infestations of Z. exclamationis on ‘Hybrid 896’ sunflower at Bushland and Chillicothe, TX, in 1976 (1.9 and 4.5% of the plants infested, respectively) occurred July 6 and July 1. The heaviest infestations occurred on sunflower planted June 21 (2.7%) and May 11 (2.2%) at Bushland and Chillicothe, respectively. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
