Abstract
Hexokinase activity of the homogenate of rabbit cerebral cortex was accelerated by 0.025 M n-butyramine, gamma-aminobutyrate, but inhibited by N-acetyl-gamma-aminobutyrate. That of heart muscle was markedly increased by the addition of 6 -amino-n-valerate, gamma-aminobutyrate, considerably by n-butyramine, and strongly suppressed by N-acetyl-gamma-aminobutyrate. B-alanine, gamma-amino-a-and gamma-amino-B-hydroxybutyrates gave no significant effect. The NH2(CH2)3- group is likely the site of activating effect. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
