Abstract
An eight-year-old boy received a grade 3 pancreatic injury as a result of a bicycle handlebar accident. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) showed a proximal pancreatic duct transection. At laparotomy, a complete transection of the gland and duct was visualized; however, only debridement and external fistulization were performed. Follow-up ERCP performed 3 months postoperatively showed recanalization of the pancreatic duct without further operative intervention. At 1-year follow-up, the patient is pain free and tolerating a regular diet. Keywords
