Abstract
An investigation of the relationships between the CPI scales and two criteria, i.e., academic aptitude and academic achievement, was undertaken with two groups of maladjusted male Ss and a third sample of normal college males. Despite the earlier findings that several of the CPI scales are moderately correlated with grade point average, the CPI added little to the prediction of academic success In the present study, particularly after aptitude was partialed out. It was also noted that the effects of non-intellectual personality traits on academic performance tended to vary Inversely with the level of adjustment of the students.
