Abstract
By means of the SbCl3 test, the absence of vit. A in normal urine, its presence in urine in some diseases, particularly pneumonia and chronic nephritis, and large amts. in the urine of the healthy dog were confirmed. None was found in the urine of rats, and only traces in the urine of cats and rabbits. Its presence was confirmed by spectroscopic and biological tests. An association between vit. A excretion in the urine and proteinuria was demonstrated. The vit. A content of human kidneys taken at autopsy was compared in cases of acci-dental death and death from various diseases. Vit. D was absent from the urines of normal human subjects and dogs. A small excretion of vit. D was observed after dosage with calciferol in a patient showing spontaneous excretion of vit. A. The excretion of vit. A was highly selective, the conc. of vit. per unit of lipid being much greater in urine than in blood. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
