Abstract
An attempt is made to explain the phenomenon of superconductivity by taking into account the electromagnetic (inductive) forces which the electrons exert on each other when they move in an organized way. These forces stabilize the motion against the perturbations due to the thermal agitation of the crystal lattice. They can also entail a decrease of energy which may explain the thermodynamic stability of the superconducting state at low temperatures. The theory is not carried to the point of numerical calculation.
