Abstract
The ring current transient observed when the disc current changes from zero to a steady value is calculated. The mathematics are similar to those of the homogeneous first-order decomposition of the intermediate in its passage from the disc to ring electrodes. The previous solution 1 is extended to a wider range of x and solutions are obtained for transients when the intermediate is also undergoing first-order decomposition. The measurement of such transients should be a powerful method of determining first-order rate constants up to 104 sec–1.Keywords
