Abstract
IT HAS been estimated that over 50 million Americans are drinking fluoridated water1 and an unknown, but certainly large number of infants and children are receiving fluoride in the form of tablets or as an additive to vitamin preparations. The metabolism of fluoride in the adult is generally well known.2-5 It has been pointed out that there is a high rate of fluoride storage when the daily intake is between 12 to 25 mg. This stored fluoride is excreted exponentially over a period of at least two years after the intake is lowered to the normal amount of 0.5 mg daily.6-7 Exact rates and amounts of excretion of fluoride in children with supplementary fluoride intake has not been reported in the literature. The purpose of this paper is to review a three-year research program conducted to determine the exact amounts of fluoride excreted via the kidney andThis publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
