Abstract
This study relates mental deterioration in old age to recent life history. A family member or close friend completed the Geriatric Schedule of Recent Experience (GSRE) for each of 25 mentally deteriorated and 25 normal elderly women. The results showed a positive relationship between magnitude and number of life crises and mental deterioration. Keywords
