Abstract
The radicals produced by X-irradiation in L-phenylalanine .cntdot. hydrochloride crystals was analyzed by ESR spectroscopy. Four radicals were identified: the radical resulting from electron capture by the carboxylic group, the radical resulting from deamination, an H addition radical to the benzene ring and the radical resulting from H abstraction from the methylene group bonded to C.beta.. These identifications are supported by INDO [intermediate neglect of differential overlap] calculations. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
