Incomplete arylamidase in psoriasis scales

Abstract
Electrophoretic and immunological studies revealed that normal and pathologically altered epidermis contains an arylamidase with the electrophoretic mobility of anα-globulin. This enzyme seems to be immunologically identical with an arylamidase secreted by the prostate gland. In psoriasis scales the arylamidase migrates with the electrophoretic mobility of aβ-globulin. Presumably, this enzyme contains fewer neuraminic acid groups than the arylamidase of normal epidermis. It may well be that in psoriasis the synthesis of arylamidase is incomplete. Elektrophoretische und immunologische Untersuchungen ergaben, daß normale und pathologisch veränderte Epidermis eine Arylamidase mit der elektrophoretischen Beweglichkeit einesα-Globulins enthalten. Dieses Enzym scheint mit einer Arylamidase aus der Prostata immunologisch identisch zu sein. Die Arylamidase psoriatischer Schuppen wandert mit der elektrophoretischen Beweglichkeit einesβ-Globulins. Vermutlich enthält dieses Enzym weniger Neuraminsäuregruppen als die Arylamidase der normalen Epidermis. Möglicherweise ist bei Psoriasis die Synthese der Arylamidase unvollständig.
