Quintessence and the Curvature of the Universe after WMAP
Abstract
It is shown that quintessence models for the dark energy in the Universe, possessing a constant equation of state, are in agreement with the angular power spectrum of the temperature anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation measured by the WMAP mission. All acceptable models require a dominant dark energy component with negative pressure and are consistent with the possibility that our Universe has negative spatial curvature.Keywords
