Abstract
107 women were screened out of an allergic clientele by intradermal testing with a gonadotropic prepn. Synapoidin (Parke, Davis and Co.), a combination of chorionic gonadotrophin and anterior pituitary gonadotropin was used in 1:5 dilution for tests and treatment. Only those women showing definite immediate positive reactions were treated. They suffered from premenstrual distress with simultaneous exacerbation of recognized allergies. Dosage was kept low, adjusted to the individual''s tolerance and requirement. Results were favorable, especially in simple premenstrual distress and tension., Concomitant allergies responded better to treatment when the hormone sensitivity was controlled. Even with the minute doses employed, the gonad-stimulating effect of Synapoidin was occasionally observed, but in most cases its behavior was that of an allergen.
