Abstract
Three Romanian cases of mycetoma (Madura foot) due to M. apiospermum are reported. After a short review on the literature and ecology of this species, the clinical, histological, immun-ological, mycological and experimental data of the mentioned cases are discussed. The etiological diagnosis is bases on the cultures only. The aspect of the grains in the tissues, as well as the reaction of the cells are not specific. The serology and especially the fixing complement test may be used to presume the causative agent, but only when it gives positive results. A negative test does not exclude the presence of the disease. Keywords
